Chalkville Elementary School became an Alabama Reading Initiative School in the summer of 2006.  Fifty-three of our wonderful teachers took a week out of their summer break to go to ARA (Alabama Reading Academy.) 

     ARI is a statewide movement anchored by educational leaders from across the state.  This movement is dedicated to significantly improving reading instruction and ultimately achieving 100% literacy among students in our public schools.  Students are considered “literate” when they can read fluently and comprehend what they are reading.

     The teachers of Chalkville Elementary are working hard to implement this new and exciting reading program into their classrooms.  It is our goal that “no child be left behind!”
