The girls track program has been very successful
over the past few years. The team
earned the county runner up position the last two years, won the County Championship
for three years in a row, and earned the runner up position the two years
before that. A winning tradition has
been created by the athletes who have contributed to this program. They should be very proud of their accomplishments.
7th and 8th grade girls are eligible to try out
for the track team. Conditioning and tryouts usually begin in early
February. The first track meet is
in March. Athletes compete in meets
during March and April ending with the County Championship in late April.
Athletes that are chosen for the track team are expected to:
1.
meet the eligibility requirements outlined by the Alabama High School Athletic
Association
2.
obtain a current physical examination from a physician giving them approval
to participate
3.
be dependable in regard to attendance at practice and meets
4.
be hard-working, energetic, and committed to the sport
6th
grade girls interested in track will be able to compete in a one-day meet
in the spring. Listen in your PE class for details sometime in March.
