The Governor recently declared a State Public Health Emergency due to the continued outbreak of the flu. Keeping our students healthy in Jefferson County is a priority.

We are encouraging all parents to be mindful of this outbreak and consider the following things to help us to minimize any further spreading of the flu virus:

Get the flu vaccine, it is not too late
Stay at home if you have a fever
Wash your hands
Cover your cough and sneeze
Clean and disinfect
Refrain from visiting friends and family in the hospital

If your child has symptoms of illness such as fever, cough, body aches, sore throat, fatigue, headache, nausea, or vomiting please keep your child at home so that he or she prevents spreading illness to others. Students must be 24 hours fever free (temperature less than 100) without fever-reducing medications before returning to school.

Jefferson County Schools strives to be proactive in protecting the health and well-being of our students and staff.  We are mindful of our duties and the importance of cleanliness during this flu outbreak. We are asking that you as parents be just as mindful in an effort to protect your child as well as others.
