■ Dr. Jon Remley, supervisor of bands for JefCoEd, will be performing four times at City Stages on two days with three different groups in two different locations. On Saturday, June 20, at 3:45 p.m. with the Alabama Blues Machine at the Dance Depot; at 6:45 p.m. with the same group at the Music Oasis (Episcopal Church of the Advent); and at 8:00 p.m. with the Superjazz at the Music Oasis. On Sunday, June 21, he will be performing at the Music Oasis at 5 :00 p.m. with the Cahaba Saxophone Quartet.

■ Congratulations to Cody Herring, a senior at McAdory High, for winning a $1500 FFA/Agricultural Scholarships from Monsanto.

■ Shades Valley Technical Academy Welding instructor Shane Snead had two students compete in the Alabama Skills USA Competition held in April. Students were Brandon Rice and Osvaldo and Jaramillo. Brandon placed first in action skills. In this category Brandon gave a five-minute Personal Protective Equipment presentation on welding. Brandon will participate in the National Leadership and Skills Conference to be held in Kansas City, MO in June.
