We would like to congratulate the Students from Clay Chalkville High School and Pinson Valley High School. We believe that in today's economic times, increasing the financial knowledge and skills of American youth is critical to their futures and to the future financial stability of our country. Your support and enthusiasm in spreading the knowledge of personal finance to high school students is admirable. The 2011 National Financial Capability Challenge was taken by more than 84,000 high school students between March 7 and April 8, 2011. Participants included students in rural areas, suburbs, and inner cities across the country, and in Department of Defense schools around the world. The average student score was 69 percent. The results reinforce our belief that there is more work to be done to prepare our young people for the financial future that awaits them. By offering the Challenge to your students, you have participated in a growing movement to better prepare young people for an increasingly complex financial system.   Shonya Sherer is the instructor at Clay Chalkville HS and Randell Smith is the instructor at  Pinson Valley High School, their students took the 2011 National Financial Capability Challenge.

Congratulations, 10 of your students from each high school scored in the top 20 percent of students nationwide!

On October 22, 2010, North Jefferson Middle School FBLA (Future Business Leaders of America) invited Jeremiah Castille to speak to the student body.  Mr. Castille motivated the students with his past experiences and encouraged them to strive to be the best they could be.  The students had great comments to say about him.  Some comments were: great, very interesting, motivating, amazing, very encouraging and one student even said he was "the beast."  The students enjoyed him coming to North Jefferson.  Many students asked if he could come back.  Mr. Castille shook hands with students and had his picture made with them. Rita Baggett, FBLA sponsor, contacted Mr. Castille to speak to the student body.

The Hueytown High School Future Business Leaders of America Chapter recently attended an Atlanta Business Tour Fieldtrip. During our visit we toured CNN Atlanta where students were able to take a glimpse of news and broadcasting in action. The Inside CNN Studio Tour took them behind the scenes of the Global Headquarters of CNN in Atlanta. The students also toured The World of Coca-Cola where they tasted over 60 different products from around the globe. In addition, they viewed a thrilling 4-D theater presentation that gave them an interactive experience of what it takes to create a winning product.
