Bradley Bolden and Hayden Wilcutt, who are juniors at Gardendale High School in the CAD program won 1st Place in the ASME Egg Drop Competition at UAB on April 1, 2011 at the School of Engineering.  These two designed a container that had to be packed with an egg and thrown from the top of a 3 story building and survive without the egg breaking.  Then if it succeeded there it had to survive being tested and judged on other criteria.  Gardendale had the most containers survive the drop part of the competition and make it to round two with 25 containers. Mrs. Bain's class prepared for the competition for a week prior to competition.  The students had to make their own designs and supply their own materials for the competition.

Three students that have received scholarships from Lawson State – Alyson Wayman from Pinson, Chastity Moona- Mortimer Jordan(1 year scholarships) and Danny Kohut – Mortimer Jordan(Full Scholarship) All of these are Drafting/Design Cad Scholarships.  Chasitity Moona also has a full scholarship in Drafting to Bevill State Community College.  All of these students take CAD Drafting/Design at Gardendale High School.
