Arts Education Textbook Adoption
The Department of Arts Education last adopted textbooks in 1999. The new state rotation has scheduled the arts education adoption for 2007. Thus, a committee was formed according to state specification and the process begins. The committee is made up of arts teachers, principal, board member and parent initially met in the fall of 2006 to begin reviewing state adopted texts in all arts areas. Textbook publishers have also presented workshops open to all.
The recommendation of JefCoEd adoption and purchase will be finalized January 2007. New arts education textbooks and resource materials should arrive in time before school starts, August 2007. The materials will be a welcomed addition to assist in the teaching/learning process for quality arts education.
