COMMUNITY EDUCATION ZONE ADVISORY COMMITTEE

Seeking continuously to involve all community citizens in the determination of their own lives and their life within the community, community education provides people and agencies the opportunity to work together to improve themselves and their services to the community.

A community school shall be any facility used to deliver classes, activities or services to the public. Community schools shall he joined in a Community Education Zone which shall be directed by the Community Education Zone Coordinator. Community school principals within a Community Education Zone shall group together to form the Community Education Zone Principals' Committee.

In order to offer services closest to the needs of the community, each Community Education 7one shall utilize an Advisory Committee composed of patrons of the community schools. The primary responsibility of this Advisory Committee shall be to advise the chairperson of the principals' committee of the wants and needs of the people within the zone. It shall be the responsibility of the zone principals' committee to decide how, when and where the needs are met and to provide rationales when classes, activities or services are not offered.

The members of each Advisory Committee shall be selected according to guidelines established by each zone principals' committee with input from existing advisory groups. Membership shall not be restricted to individuals with children in the schools.

Community School principals within the Community Education Zone and the zone coordinator shall serve as nonvoting ex officio members.
