COMMENDATIONS BY THE BOARD

Because the Board believes excellence in education is fu recognition of extraordinary achievements encourages others to strive toward excellence, the Board wishes to reward superior accomplishments of students, teachers and other school personnel by formally recognizing such accomplishments.

The Public Information Department, working closely with superintendents directors, principals and others, shall seek and identify throughout the school system, superior accomplishments to be publicized and recommended to the Board.

It shall be the responsibility of all school personnel to be aware of possible recipients of such recognition and to make recommendations when it is deemed appropriate, to be forwarded and edited through the Public Information Department.

The following are examples of performance areas which have been commended by the Board:

1. National Merit Scholarship finalists

2. State athletic tournament winners

3. Statewide convention winners

4. State and International Special Olympics winners

5. State and regional festival or competition winners

6 State or national beauty contest winners

State or national Outstanding Teacher Award recipients
