ACADEMIC COMPETITION TEAMS

To enhance the learning opportunities of academically advanced students in grades 7-12, schools are encouraged to establish competition teams.

The Board will provide financial assistance for participating schools.

The Board will pay a salary supplement to each academic team coach. Thus, scheduling of academic competition events shall be done cooperatively by the schools, with all such events being conducted after the regular school day or on weekends.

Intramural and local competitions must be funded by local school effort.

Financial assistance may be provided by the Board when an academic team is participating in national competition. The Board must grant prior approval for an academic team to qualify for or accept an invitation to compete on a national level.
