ENERGY CONSERVATION AS PART OF THE CURRICULUM
To understand conservation and the wise use of natural resources, the Board believes that it is vital to create an awareness of the necessity for the conservation of energy through the education of each student.
Such instruction could help to develop attitudes that guide responsible student behavior in present and future management of energy resources.
Students shall have the opportunity to learn about energy conservation through appropriate instruction at all levels. The programs used for this instruction may be those furnished through in-service training from the Division of Curriculum and Instruction as approved by the State Department and/or the Jefferson County Board of Education.
(JCBE/POLICY FILE: 524.1)
Teachers are encouraged to employ energy conservation concepts in each course and are encouraged to use learning activities that create a comprehension of energy problems and possibilities. Use of classroom discussion, books, periodicals, nature walks, home audits, and independent projects may result in a better understanding of changing energy situations.
