FLAG DISPLAYS

As a symbol of its affiliation with the United States of America and the State of Alabama, and as an encouragement toward public spiritedness among the citizens as subjects of Jefferson County, the Board, in accordance with public school law (CODE OF ALABAMA, 16-43-1), shall require each school in the system to display the flag of the United States as well as the flag of the State of Alabama at some suitable place about the school building on every day in which the school is in session.

State statutes further require that teachers' monthly reports must reflect that these flags have been displayed accordingly to qualify for public funds and that flags shall be purchased at the Board's expense. (CODE OF ALABAMA, 16-43-4).
