PAIRIOTISM
The Board, in recognition of the need for students to better understand and appreciate their American heritage and the ideals upon which their government was founded, and in accordance with public school law (CDDE OF ALABAMA, 16-40-6), shall, using guidelines established by the State Department of Education, include in the curriculum of the Jefferson County Schools a program of courses or lectures on the principles of patriotism.
In conjunction with, and complementary to the teaching of the principles of patriotism, the Board shall afford all Jefferson County students attending public kindergarten, primary and secondary schools the opportunity each school day to recite voluntarily the Pledge of Allegiance to the United States flag.
