ANNUAL ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
Because the Board believes that the public interest is best served by a balance of leadership and in accordance with Alabama Legislative Act 88-876, 1988, there shall be an annual organizational meeting each year in November.
At the annual organizational meeting the Board shall elect from its own members a president and a vice-president for a term of one year.
At the appointed time on the agenda when the Board prepares to elect the officers for the ensuing year, the secretary, with the ex officio status and no voting rights as defined by the CODE OF ALABAMA, 16-8-7, shall be asked by the chairperson to serve as the presiding officer until the election is completed so that all Board members may be given an equal opportunity to participate in the election process. A person shall also be designated by the chairperson to serve as clerk until the completion of the election.
The secretary shall call for the nominations for the office of president, then the election of the president. Following the election of the president, the secretary shall call for nominations for the office of vice-president, then the election of the vice-president. The newly elected president shall then assume the role of chairperson and proceed with the nomination and election of the secretary.
The officers shall be elected by a roll call vote conducted and tallied by the clerk.
