CUSTODIAN OF PUBLIC SCHOOL FUNDS
To fulfill the public trust and to abide by state statutes (CODE OF ALABAMA, 16-8-33), the Jefferson County Board of Education shall appoint, for a term of two years, a custodian of the public school funds of Jefferson County. The custodian of public school funds shall be a governmental agent without discretionary powers, and shall receive and take charge of all moneys to which the Board may be entitled by law or which may came into its possession for public school purposes.
The custodian shall disburse public school moneys only on written order of the county superintendent and approval of the Board President. The custodian shall keep an accurate record of all receipts and expenditures, and shall make reports as may be required by Law, by the Board, or by the State Board of Educatian.
The custodian of public school funds shall give bond with a surety company authorized by the State of Alabama. The amount of the custodian's bond shall be fixed by the Board and approved by the state superintendent of education, with whom a certified copy shall be filed.
The Board shall pay the premium on the custodian's bond out of the county's school tax.
