PRESIDENT AND VICE PRESIDENT OF THE BOARD

In compliance with state statutes (Alabama Legislative Act 88-876, 1988), the Jefferson County Board of Education shall hold an annual meeting in November, at which time the Board shall elect one of its members to serve as president and one of its members to serve as vice president.

The Board president shall conduct Board meetings in accordance with Robert's Rules of Order (modified). The role of the president shall be to serve as presiding officer during Board meetings. The president shall receive motions made by Board members, but is not required to vote except in the case of a tie.

The vice president shall serve as presiding officer when the president is absent, or in cases when the president chooses to relinquish the chair to participate as a member.
