OFFICIAL TITLE OF THE SCHOOL BOARD

The Jefferson County Board of Education recognizes its responsibility to govern the school system so that the best possible education for county students may be maintained. In compliance with state statutes, the Jefferson County Board of Education is delegated the complete control of the educational affairs of the Jefferson County School System. The Board's authority is to be exercised within its discretion except as limited by law. State statutes (CODE OF ALABAMA, 16-8-8) read in part as follows:

The general administration and supervision of the public schools of the educational interests of each county, with the exception of cities having a city board of education shall be vested in the county board of education.
