Talented Erwin Elemetnary fifth grader gets the nod for Congressman Bachus' holiday card
Shy'Ailah Rutledge, 11, is an Erwin Elementary fifth grader. She created the holiday card for US Representative Spencer Bachus and won a six-year old contest. Pictured from left are her principal Mike Barlow of Erwin Elementary, vision teacher Kate Follett, art teacher Amanda McDonald, and Congressman Bachus. The contest is sponsored by UAB's School of Optometry Vision Science Research Center as a creative outlet for students with visual impairments.

Brookville Elementary third grader Destiny Cobbs has become a regular at being recognized when Congressman Spencer Bachus honors students for participating in the holiday card contest. Here she proudly shows her picture with her vision teacher Emily Wiggins and classroom paraprofessional Carolyn Hudson. Her artwork was recognized for the participation in holiday category.
