Hillview Elementary wins $5,000 in AEA's Be a Champion and Read
Hillview Elementary students are serious about their readingand excelled in two recent contests. In the fall competition sponsored by AEA for encouraging a love of reading, Hillview faculty had more than 70% involvement in the contest which qualified them for a drawing of the grand prize of $5,000. Hillview students read 1520 book during September and October for the two-month contest. Teachers participating also had a drawing and Chastidy Quinn of Snow Rogers Elementary was one of two teachers who won $1600 a piece. Hillview librarian Barbie Miller also said that her students read 5,980 books in the JefCoEd's Family Reading Initiative which was held in November.
