It Pays to Make good grades

Hueytown High students making a minimum of a 3 on Advanced Placement (AP) tests each received $100 checks for each qualifying score earned on math, science and English May 2009 AP exams.  It is part of the agreement in the $13.2 million grant over a five-year period shared by JefCoEd and Montgomery Public Schools  The goal is to increase the number of students taking AP courses.  They were honored with an ice cream part on October 21.

 

 

 

Gardendale honors its students making AP scores that earn college credit

 

Gardendale High School students who earned a qualifying score of 3, 4, or 5 for each Advanced Placement test taken in math, science or English received a $100 check for each score of 3 or above.  They were recognized at their homecoming Pep Rally on October 9.  In the eight grant schools involved, there were 413 qualifying scores earned, meaning checks totaling $41,300 were earned by students.  The other seven schools which are National Math Science Initiative/A+ College Ready schools participating are Clay-Chalkville High, Hueytown High, JCIB, Minor High, Pinson Valley High, Pleasant Grove High, and Shades Valley. Congratulations!
