    • North Highland Elementary has surpassed its reading records this November in encouraging more reading of books per child and getting into the Family Reading Initiative
    • The Annual Christmas books Share-A-Bration for the JefCoEd librarians was held in the cafeteria December 1 and two retiring librarians were honored, Debra Cordell from Snow Rogers Elementary and Marcia Amason from Shades Valley High
    • Pinson Elementarys Leigh Thomas has 18 ambitious kindergarten readers in her room who collectively read 4729 books. Each colorful link represents one book read by a child and student names are on individual links
    • Assistant director of payroll Renee Wheatley retired with 25 years and nine months service and television reporter Jeremy King who was doing a story for ABC 3340 was on hand for the occasion.
    • Michele Best retired from the JefCoEd department of new construction on November 30 and a host of vendors, friends, and family came to honor her for her service of 26 years and three months.
    • The fourth annual food drive sponsored by Mt. Olive Elementary brought in 2540 items for the community and put the whole school in the wonderful holiday mood of sharing.
    • Debbie Williams, left, retired with 29 years of service as a supervisor in the Athletics, Physical Education, Recreation, Health Services, Driver Education Department and an elementary physical education teacher
    • JefCoEd Board President Jennifer Parsons, second from left, has been named a 2011 Alabama All-State School Board Member by the Alabama Association of School Boards. The other four people pictured were also newly named All-State members.
