STUDENTS ATTENDING PROM!_  The student acknowledgement form (the green form you MUST SIGN and turn into Mrs. Farrington and the prom dress code information are both located on the school website for you to download and read.

STUDENT – JOB OPPORTUNITY:  students between ages of 16-18 and have at least one year left in high school.  Scheduled work hours are 8:00am to 3:00pm Monday-Friday – Student pay - $5.50 per hour – all applications should be received no later than March 18, 2006, students will be notified of acceptance no later than April 8.  Applications should be mailed to Rhonda Lewis, Young Water Ambassador Program Coordinator, The Birmingham Water Works Board, 3600 First Avenue North, Birmingham, Al.  35243 or call 244-4114 if you have questions.  Applications available in counselor’s office.

ALSAMP Summer Bridge Program available for minority students planning to major in science, engineering, or math.  Selected students will receive a stipend of $1,200 in addition to tuition, room and board.  Seniors 2006 See Mrs. Morrow for more information.

Auburn University Summer Bridge Program available to minority students planning to major in science or math.  2006 Seniors only.  Deadline March 17th. See Mrs. Morrow for info.

JEFFERSON COUNTY COUNTY CHAMPIONS!!!! Pleasant Grove Boys Basketball Defeated Erwin  Saturday to win the County Championship. The Pleasant Grove Girls Basketball team Defeated Clay-Chalkville to win The County Championship.

CHEERLEADING TRYOUTS: attention all girls interested in trying out for cheerleader:  there will be a MANDATORY information meeting on Monday, January 23rd at 6:30 in the girls gym.  You must attend this meeting with a parent in order to tryout.  See Ms. Burton for more details.

PROM TICKETS GO ON SALEFebruary 1, 2 and 3.  Junior tickets $90.00 per couple and Seniors $70.00 per couple.  NO REFUNDS will be given.  Prices will increase $20.00 after February 3rd.  Prom will be held April 22 at the Downtown Sheraton Medical Forum Ballroom from 8:00-12:00.  If you have any questions, see Mrs. Farrington.  

The band recently sold cookie dough.  It came in yesterday.  We have a few extras.  It is $10.00 per tub, benefiting individual band members accounts for the spring trip.  You must pay for it now and it will be here on the following day.  Available flavors:  Coconut Macaroon – Sugar – Peanut Butter Brownie – M & M – Peanut Butter – White Chocolate Macadamia – Chocolate Chunk

Science Olympiad is now available for grades 7-12 meeting in Room 129 Tuesday and Thursday at 7:15

SCIENCE OLYMPIAD will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays in Mrs. J. Youngblood’s rooms at 7:15  

SCIENCE TEAM will meet on Wednesdays in J. Youngblood’s room at 7:15  

PTA REFLECTIONS PROGRAM:  students if you’re looking for a way to show others your talent, then please enter the PTA Reflections Art Contest.  You could win $50.00 – the theme this year is “I Wonder Why”.  Let your talent shine by creating an original piece of artwork in one of the four following categories:  PHOTOGRAPHY – VISUAL ART – LITERATUREMUSICAL COMPOSITION – If you are interested please see the art teacher, your English teacher or the band director for more information.

GRADUATION EXAM STUDY SESSIONS: Coach Humphries will be offering study sessions to SENIORS for the Graduation Exam immediately after school on Mondays & Wednesdays.  Those interested should go to the library and check out PASSING THE GRADUATION EXAM before Monday.  Sessions will last approximately 1 hour.

JUNIORS/SENIORS: Information on both the Mercedes Benz Automotive Production and the MB Indurstiral Maintenance Apprenticeship Programs can be picked up from Mrs. Farrington, Mrs. Morrow, or Mr. Grantland. Deadline is November 8. Requirements: 2.5 GPA and passage of AHSGE.
